Read It, Build It, Write It Sight Words!
Whenever I tutor or teach young children, I make it a habit to teach sight words. Children who learn sight words it not only helps them to read overall, but faster. Grades like kindergarten and first grade expect incoming students on the first day to know sight words. I have three sight word sets below that are very helpful in teaching your child!
How to Play:
1) Simply place a word in the "Read It" Section and say it for your child.
2) Then, let them build the word by using magnetic letters, cutout letters, or playdoh. Ask them which letters come first in order for some spelling fun!
Have them write the word below by using an expo marker (make sure to laminate everything beforehand). Make sure you repeat the word with them and have them read it at the end!
3) Repeat with the other words!
I used this with my niece who is in kindergarten and she thought it was so much fun. We tried each word and just by learning hands on really became an amazing way for her to grasp concepts!
